OrKidstra is pleased to welcome Yasir Naqvi to the Board of Directors
OrKidstra is pleased to welcome Yasir Naqvi to the Board of Directors. Mr. Naqvi is CEO of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. Between 2007 and 2018, as the MPP for Ottawa Centre, he served in several Cabinet positions in Ontario, most recently as Attorney General. Claire Marshall, Chair of OrKidstra’s Board, noted that “Mr. Naqvi’s personal understanding of the immigrant experience and his wide knowledge of Ottawa’s community bring valuable perspectives to the Board as we implement our strategic plan, Crescendo: Strategy 2032.”
In accepting the appointment, Mr. Naqvi said “I’m excited to join the Board of Directors for OrKidstra, and be a part of the movement to foster inclusion and belonging by providing music education to more children in our community.”
OrKidstra is a charitable, social development program which teaches life skills through learning and making music together to over 700 kids from some 62 linguistic and cultural backgrounds who live in Ottawa’s under-served areas. Empower kids…Build community.
