Don’t forget that The Leading Note Foundation’s OrKidstra program will be hosting a Sistema-inspired Symposium on Instrumental Change on February 12 & 13, 2015 in Ottawa, Canada!
Official registration will be sent out at the end of October, but we would like to give you heads up about the Symposium so you can mark it in your calendar for next year.
Thursday, February 12: Sistema-inspired Symposium on Instrumental Change – hosted at the Canada Council’s stunning new building down-town Ottawa. The day will include presentations on community building, program coordination, fundraising, assessment and evaluation, repertoire, role of the volunteer, mentorship and more.
Friday, February 13: Pedagogical and Teacher Development – hosted at the Bronson Centre (home of OrKidstra) to include workshops given by dynamic and experienced teaching artists; the day will also include performances and classes with the OrKidstra students.
Keynote speakers will include Richard Hallam from Sistema England and other world-renowned speakers.
We would appreciate a pre-registration indication of your interest to help us gauge the numbers as spaces and hotel rooms will be limited. Please e-mail: [email protected] to express your interest in the symposium.
The February dates were chosen to coincide with Ottawa’s famous Winterlude Festival – a magical destination where you can skate on the Rideau Canal (the world’s largest rink), admire ice sculptures and enjoy many other winter and cultural activities. http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1379706275276.
