This June, nine of our Dedication & Senior Commitment OrKidstra students will travel to Sweden as part of the Sistema-inspired exchange between Canada & Sweden (funded by the European Union Culture Program). During their 7-day tour, they will play side by side with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra under the baton of world renowned conductor, Gustavo Dudamel. 3000 children, mentors & teachers from Sistema-inspired programs around the world are expected to attend Sweden’s Side by Side 2015 event. We are proud to announce that OrKidstra is the only program in the world, outside of Sweden, that have the privilege of playing Side by Side with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. We are so honoured to have this opportunity and are working hard to prepare!
The Wine, Cheese & Chamber event will raise money for the “Activities Fund” for the Youth Group. Besides the Sweden trip, funds raised will also support leadership activities throughout the summer. This is our first student-led fundraising event (future ones will include selling homemade music-related crafts, busking and more). We look forward to seeing you on May 11! Appetizers will be served at 7:00pm. Coffee, tea & dessert will follow. Guests will then be invited in the auditorium for a one hour chamber concert by our OrKidstra Chamber Groups.
