Tina Fedeski awarded Order of Ottawa and Doctor of Music, honoris causa
OrKidstra is thrilled to share that Co-Founder and Artistic Managing Director, Tina Fedeski, M.S.M., has been honoured with two prestigious awards.
This November, Tina was awarded the degree of Doctor of Music, honoris causa, from Carleton University and was also inducted into the 2024 Order of Ottawa! These accolades recognize her exceptional leadership, dedication to music education and community building, and commitment to empowering youth through the transformative power of music.
Tina was awarded the degree of Doctor of Music, honoris causa, at Carleton University’s convocation ceremony on November 9, 2024, in recognition of her innovative work and passion for developing social change through music. Click below to watch Tina’s inspiring Convocation Address.
Just a few days later, on November 14, 2024, Tina was inducted into the Order of Ottawa, recognizing her profound contributions to Ottawa’s cultural, social, and educational landscape, including her co-founding of OrKidstra in 2007. Accompanied by City Councillor Ariel Troster, the award was presented by His Worship Mark Sutcliffe, Mayor of Ottawa and former OrKidstra Board Chair.
These honours underscore the enduring impact of Tina’s vision, empowering thousands of youths to develop vital skills like respect, teamwork, dedication, self-confidence, and courage while finding a sense of belonging through music. Tina’s story is a testament to the transformative power of music and the collective community impact that can be kindled by a single spark.
