OrKidstra Wins Music Educator of the Year at the Capital Music Awards!
On May 22, 2025, OrKidstra proudly received the Music Educator of the Year Award at the 6th annual Capital Music Awards, hosted by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition.
This special recognition celebrates the power of music education to inspire, uplift, and create belonging and we couldn’t be prouder to share this award with our entire OrKidstra community.
A Night of Celebration
The Capital Music Awards filled the beautiful Southam Hall at the National Arts Centre with Ottawa’s vibrant and diverse music community. Musicians, educators, and industry leaders came together to celebrate talent, creativity, and the impact of music in our city.
OrKidstra felt deeply honoured to stand among so many incredible artists and leaders. The evening overflowed with joy and connection—applause, laughter, heartfelt speeches, and unforgettable performances that reminded us of how music unites us all.
One of the most unforgettable moments came when our own kids and families cheered us on from the audience. Their smiles, excitement, and pride made the award especially meaningful. Seeing them celebrate alongside us reminded us why we do this work: to empower young people and their families through the transformative power of music.
This award highlights not only the excellence of music education at OrKidstra but also the courage and commitment of our students who dedicate themselves to learning, creating, and performing together. The evening shone a light on how music builds confidence, resilience, and belonging—and how, together, we create lasting change in young lives.
