NEWS: OrKidstra appoints new Board Members
The Chair of OrKidstra’s Board, Claire E. Marshall is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Board Members: Jeff Heynen and Salim Charabati. In making these announcements Claire said “OrKidstra welcomes the professional expertise and community understanding which Jeff and Salim bring to the table.”
Jeff Heynen, a senior Public Servant with expertise in US/Canada trade issues and in transport policy, has volunteered with OrKidstra for over a year on the Finance, Governance and HR Committee. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, a Fulbright Scholar and former Parliamentary Intern, Jeff has worked in Ottawa and Iqaluit, and with the UN Mission to Kosovo helping to prepare for municipal elections there. Jeff, his wife, Dr. Parisa Rezaiefar, and their two girls live in Centretown. Jeff enjoys playing jazz and classical piano.
Salim Charabati, an architect, brings expertise in strategic planning, operations and project management to the table. He was a member of the UofO Executive MBA team which advised OrKidstra on market development opportunities in 2015. Born in Lebanon and with international business experience, Salim and his wife, Reem Rihani, came to Canada in 2014 to raise their family. He has been active on the Strategic Planning Working Group since 2015.
OrKidstra is a social development program for children aged 5 to 18 living in under-served areas of Ottawa, Canada. OrKidstra’s mission is to empower children and build community through the universal language of music.
