Calling all music educators!

Are you passionate about changing kids’ lives through music? Apply now and help us spread the word!
OrKidstra is expanding and we are looking to grow our family of Teaching Artists and Apprentice Teaching Artists to help deliver our social development through music programs to kids from equity-deserving Ottawa communities!
If you are an experienced, passionate, and holistic music educator (instrumental/choral), or a university or high school student looking to expand your skills, we would love to meet you. A range of opportunities are available including volunteer mentorship, apprenticeship, and professional Teaching Artist positions. Training possibilities will also be available for the right candidates.
With the passionate belief in the transformative power of music, OrKidstra was founded in 2007 with just 27 students. We have now expanded to three after-school Hubs (third Hub launching in April 2024) and a variety of schools across Ottawa serving more than 700 students, ages 5-18, from 62 linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We are looking for passionate musicians and music educators who are committed to making a difference by empowering kids and building community through singing and playing together.
Our classes are in-person and take place mainly after school on weekdays for both regular and substitute positions. In addition to offering professional teaching rates that are at or above industry standards, OrKidstra Teaching Artists and Apprentices have the chance to participate in ongoing professional development as well as a variety of performance opportunities and have the potential to advance within the organization.
OrKidstra is an equal-opportunity charitable organization committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion. We joyfully and actively encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, new Canadians, IBPOC, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, and other equity-deserving groups. We believe our community is stronger when it benefits from the understanding and wisdom of people who have lived experiences with the communities we serve.
Interested? Please contact music@orkidstra.ca with your resume. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
