As announced over the weekend in a thoughtful personal message, Tina Fedeski has decided to embark on a new chapter and will be stepping aside from full-time leadership

OTTAWA, Ont. – Oct. 28, 2025 – With the full support of the Board of Directors and Co-Leader Carrie Lauzon, Co-Founder and Artistic Managing Director, Tina Fedeski, MSM, recently shared her intention to step aside from full-time leadership after guiding OrKidstra for over 18 years; Tina will continue to be involved as Co-Founder Emerita, offering guidance, mentorship, and ongoing support to the organization.
OrKidstra has been carefully preparing for this transition and has thoughtfully developed a selection, onboarding, and succession process grounded in the organization’s core values of Love, Courage, Excellence, and Belonging. Today, the Board of Directors is excited to announce that the search for OrKidstra’s next Artistic Managing Director is underway.
Board Chair Chayanika Abeysekera Lutes expressed profound gratitude to Tina for her leadership and impact on the lives of thousands of young people from equity-deserving Ottawa communities. “Ms. Tina has been the heartbeat of OrKidstra since she started the organization in 2007 with Gary McMillen and Margaret Maria,” she said. “We are deeply grateful for her incredible vision, spirit, and dedication. While Tina is stepping aside from day-to-day leadership, her ongoing involvement as Co-Founder Emeritus, alongside the steady hand of our Co-Leader Carrie Lauzon, the Board of Directors, and the strength of our community will continue to guide us as we look to our next chapter with confidence. We are deeply grateful to Tina for all she’s given to the organization, and we look forward to welcoming the next Artistic Managing Director.”
Executive Managing Director Carrie Lauzon adds, “Tina’s love and commitment to our kids continues to inspire everyone in our community. Her awards and recognition—including an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Carleton University, Order of Ottawa, and the Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal—reflect only a fraction of her immense impact. She has built an incredible foundation for this next chapter, and I am proud to continue working alongside her to carry forward this vision as we welcome a new Artistic Managing Director.”
Tina Fedeski expressed her gratitude to the Ottawa community in a heartfelt personal message that was shared over the weekend. Tina shared, “It has been a profound privilege and honour to be the leader of this beautiful band. As “my baby” just turned 18, it is time for me to start the process of letting go. My heartfelt thanks and love go out to our awe-inspiring kids and families, OrKidstra’s extraordinary team and our entire community for bringing us to this significant point in our story.”
Tina will continue to serve in her current role over the course of our 19th season until the process is complete (most likely until the spring) and will welcome and support the new Artistic Managing Director as she steps sideways into her new role as Co-Founder Emerita.
OrKidstra is now seeking its next Artistic Managing Director, an exceptional Co-Leader who will carry forward the organization’s spirit and vision with fresh energy and dedication. The job posting is open to qualified candidates, and the community is encouraged to share it widely with individuals passionate about music, youth development, and building communities.

Comme annoncé ce week-end dans un message personnel réfléchi, Tina Fedeski a décidé de se lancer dans un nouveau chapitre et quittera ses fonctions de direction à temps plein.

OTTAWA, Ontario – 28 octobre 2025 – Avec le soutien complet du conseil d’administration et de la codirectrice Carrie Lauzon, la cofondatrice et directrice artistique Tina Fedeski, MSM, a annoncé ce weekend son intention de se retirer de la direction à temps plein après avoir guidé OrKidstra pendant plus de 18 ans. Tina continuera à s’impliquer en tant que cofondatrice émérite, offrant ses conseils, son mentorat et son soutien continu à l’organisation.
OrKidstra s’est soigneusement préparé à cette transition et a mûrement réfléchi à un processus de sélection, d’intégration et de succession fondé sur les valeurs fondamentales de l’organisation, à savoir l’amour, le courage, l’excellence et l’appartenance. Aujourd’hui, le conseil d’administration est heureux d’annoncer que la recherche du prochain directeur/de la prochaine directrice artistique d’OrKidstra est en cours.
La présidente du conseil d’administration, Chayanika Abeysekera Lutes, a exprimé sa profonde gratitude envers Tina pour son leadership et son influence sur la vie de milliers de jeunes issus des communautés d’Ottawa méritant l’équité. « Mme Tina est le cœur battant d’OrKidstra depuis qu’elle a fondé l’organisation en 2007 avec Gary McMillen et Margaret Maria », a-t-elle déclaré. « Nous lui sommes profondément reconnaissants pour sa vision, son esprit et son dévouement incroyables. Bien que Tina se retire de la direction quotidienne, son implication continue en tant que cofondatrice émérite, aux côtés de notre codirectrice Carrie Lauzon, le conseil d’administration et la force de notre communauté continueront à nous guider alors que nous abordons avec confiance notre prochain chapitre. Nous sommes profondément reconnaissants à Tina pour tout ce qu’elle a apporté à l’organisation, et nous attendons avec plaisir le prochain directeur/la prochaine directrice artistique général/e. »
Carrie Lauzon, directrice générale exécutive, ajoute : « L’amour et l’engagement de Tina envers nos enfants continuent d’inspirer tous les membres de notre communauté. Les prix et les reconnaissances qu’elle a reçus, notamment un doctorat honorifique en musique de l’Université Carleton, l’Ordre d’Ottawa et la Médaille du service méritoire du gouverneur général, ne reflètent qu’une fraction de son immense influence. Elle a jeté des bases solides pour ce nouveau chapitre, et je suis fière de continuer à travailler à ses côtés pour poursuivre cette vision alors que nous accueillons un nouveau directeur/une nouvelle directrice général/e artistique. »
Tina Fedeski a exprimé sa gratitude envers la communauté d’Ottawa dans un message personnel sincère. Tina a déclaré : « Ce fut un immense privilège et un honneur d’être le leader de ce magnifique groupe. Alors que « mon bébé » vient d’atteindre l’âge de 18 ans, il est temps pour moi de commencer à lâcher prise. Je remercie du fond du cœur et j’adresse toute mon affection à nos enfants impressionnants et à leurs familles, à l’équipe extraordinaire d’OrKidstra et à toute notre communauté, qui nous ont permis d’atteindre ce moment important de notre histoire. »
Tina continuera d’exercer ses fonctions actuelles tout au long de notre 19e saison jusqu’à ce que le processus soit terminé (probablement jusqu’au printemps) et accueillera et soutiendra le nouveau directeur/la nouvelle directrice artistique général/e alors qu’elle prendra ses nouvelles fonctions de cofondatrice émérite.
OrKidstra recherche actuellement son prochain directeur/sa prochaine directrice artistique, un codirigeant/une codirigeante exceptionnel/le qui saura perpétuer l’esprit et la vision de l’organisation avec une énergie nouvelle et un dévouement sans faille. L’offre d’emploi est ouverte aux candidat/es qualifié/es, et la communauté est encouragée à la partager largement avec les personnes passionnées par la musique, le développement des jeunes et la création de communautés.
