OrKidstra’s “10 Leading Notes”

OrKidstra’s “10 Leading Notes” were created in 2007 to instill the essence and philosophy of OrKidstra! Values such as respect, compassion, the importance of helping others, making excellence a habit and the joy of music are all equally important in the OrKidstra family. The “10 Leading Notes” are also a fun and interactive way to learn complex rhythms. If you’ve ever been an audience member at an OrKidstra concert, you know that they’re expressed in the most fun and inclusive way at every show!

  1. Together we build respect, respect, together we build respect. Together, together, together we build respect.
  2. Play every note with love, fa la la la la, la la la love. Play every note with love, all you need is love.
  3. Phrasing, phrasing, phrasing, phrasing, phrasing comes first! Phrasing, phrasing, phrasing, phrasing, phrasing comes first!
  4. Let the music move you. Let the music move you.  Move you!  Move you!  Let the music move you!
  5. You are your own best, you are your own best, you are your own best teacher! (repeat)
  6. Treasure your instrument. It is your voice.  Treasure your instrument, you have no choice!  We won’t find it very funny, it will cost us lots of money!  Treasure your instrument.  It is your voice!
  7. Root your feet, bend your knees, elevate and feel tall. No time to slouch!  You’re not on a couch!  Root your feet, bend your knees, elevate and feel tall!
  8. Music is fun, music is fun, music is fun for everyone! You and me, she and he.  Music is fun for everyone!
  9. We help, one another. We help sister and brother.  We help, one another.  One another, we help!
  10. Excellence is a habit! Practice daily, practice daily.  Within my reach, I can grab it!  Practice daily, practice daily.  Everyday, I can play.  Morning, noon, night or day!  Excellence is a habit!  Practice daily, practice daily.  Within my reach, I can grab it!  Practice every day, hey!
